Dear Run & Win participant,
The impact of Coronavirus has escalated rapidly across the region (and the world) and the 'social distancing' and 'lock downs' that seemed so incomprehensible a few weeks ago are now a reality.
Unfortunately, this also means that we have had to place the Run & Win Challenge on hold, as your safety is our number one priority, and we want to ensure that no one is running outdoors and continuing with intensive trainings. Please know that we will definitely not cancel the challenge and will do everything in our power to ensure that all participants are treated with fairness.
I know that this is hard news for you, as you have been training so hard these past couple of months. We are all missing our outdoor runs, our trips to the gym and slowly adapting to this new reality.
As most of you know ASICS was born out of adversity as well. Our founder Kihachiro Onitsuka created ASICS in post war Japan to bring hope and optimism to people who were in despair. He recognised the power of movement on the body and on the mind and embarked on a journey of bringing movement to the world. In fact, ASICS is an acronym for the latin expression of 'Anima Sana in Corpore Sano', which translates into Sound Mind in a Sound Body.
Today, the Sound Mind Sound Body philosophy is more important than ever and at ASICS, we want to ensure that you keep moving and support you and our community through these times.
Here are some of the initiatives we have put together:
ASICS Studio App
We have made the ASICS Studio App free for the next 3 months. There you can find several workouts, aimed at runners, that you can do at home. It currently also includes Yoga sessions! You can download it here:
Run & Win Challenge
We are working hard to add one extra objective - First 5 K. This will be a program that will focus on beginners and those who would like to use this opportunity to start running. All the trainings will be home based and will mostly focus on body conditioning, getting participants fit to run. This is a great opportunity to involve family members and we will be adding live sessions as well.
Marathon at Home
For all of those who have been training for marathons and have watched these being cancelled all over the UAE and the world, we partnered with 5.30 Run Club and Dubai Sports Council to organise the first Home Marathon in the UAE. It will happen Friday 10.04.2020. Please follow us on Instagram @asicsme @530_run to find out more.
I am confident that these times will unite the UAE running community even further and that, together, we will get out of it stronger and more united. I am already looking forward to the day that we will resume our Run & Win Challenge.
In the meantime, please stay safe!
